Autorenporträt
Matt Marcilio, born in 1986 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, was brought to Boca Raton, Florida, by his parents in 2001 as a teenager, along with his brothers, in search of a better life. He took a three-month paternity leave in 2022 following the birth of his son, Carter, while residing in Charlotte, North Carolina. During this period, Matt found inspiration to write his first novel in Portuguese, 4ª Instância. Initially, he hesitated to start writing, as he needed to devote his free time to supporting his wife, Gabi, and their newborn son. However, in the third month, he felt a compelling need to put his thoughts into words. Writing the dystopian novel became a way to keep the memory of his late father alive for his children and illustrate the authoritarian times they were living in. After moving back to Florida in 2022, Matt developed a keen interest in the subjects of manhood and fatherhood, which led him to write Hard Jesus. Today, Matt is a lifegroup leader at Vine Church in South Florida.
