Despite her mother's insistence on attending church, Saundra struggled with her faith in God. As a rebellious teenager, she believed she could outsmart her parents. Her life was filled with carousing with friends, lying, doing drugs, promiscuity, and drinking, setting her on a path toward inevitable devastation. Saundra thought her parents' expectations were difficult, but she would soon learn that life's challenges could be even tougher. Eventually, she realizes who the real enemy is and discovers that everything she was searching for had been right in front of her all along. She began writing poetry and continued for many years. In 1989, she challenged herself to bring characters to life, writing and co-directing her first stage play at the Black Box Theatre. Saundra continues to write plays, with "He Waited For Me" being her most significant accomplishment to date.
