Linda Anastasia Ransom, LPC, E-RYT 500, YACEP, C-IAYT, began exploring yoga in 1994, to improve her health and stress management. In 2002, she suffered from a stroke; in 2003, she recovered from it. In 2009, she was diagnosed with breast cancer; in 2010, she was cancer-free and remains so to this day. Linda attributes her swift recovery from both to hard work, her fervent dedication to life, her embracing of disease, her expanding love of her body, and yoga, especially the practices of pranayama (breathing) and dhyana (meditation), which strengthened her presence and mindfulness. Yoga is the life-force energy that has helped her grow mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Linda has been teaching yoga since 2005, completing her 200-hour and 500-hour trainings in Iyengar-style Hatha yoga, with Lynne Minton, at Inner Dance Yoga Studio, in Anchorage, Alaska. In 2009, she opened The Anjali Yoga Room to bring the heart of yoga to her home community of Wasilla, Alaska. Through 2021, when it closed mid-pandemic, Linda's studio offered many styles of yoga-Hatha, Vinyasa, hot yoga, pre-natal yoga, core yoga, Yoga for Healing, and Healing Chair Yoga (HCY), including HCY for cancer-with a commitment to honor, in a supportive, loving environment, all individuals with reverence, in their pursuit of health and wellness. The Anjali Yoga Room also hosted yoga-teacher trainings (200-hour with Karen and Bruce Greenwood, 500-hour with Donna and Jeff Martens), and was the first studio in Alaska to certify 500-hour yoga therapists, inviting many outstanding yogis to share their knowledge. Linda maintains a leadership role in the yoga community, providing guidance for others endeavoring to open their own studios. Because yoga has resonated wholeheartedly in her life, Linda earned, in 2017, her certification as a Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She incorporates breathwork, meditation, mindfulness, mantras, mudras, and stress-reduction techniques into her mental health practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) at The Wellness Center she founded in 2003. Individuals are empowered to work on self-discovery to release depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma. Linda continues to grow with every student/client she encounters. She reminds us that the real healer is you! Linda came to Alaska in 1978 to attend the University of Fairbanks. Her devotion to yoga and wholistic health follows a 24-year career in Alaska's public schools as a teacher and a counselor. She has lived in Wasilla since 1989, currently sharing a log home on Wasilla Lake, surrounded by the Chugach Mountains, with her husband of 33 years, Bob; her son, Nico; her future daughter-in-law, Nikki; and her dog, Dave.
