Autorenporträt
Susan Alcorn lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, Ralph, where she can pursue her hiking year-round while continuing to write and maintain close connections with friends and family. She retired from teaching in 2001 to devote more time to travel and her publishing business, but still shares her interests in language arts, travel, and the outdoors as a volunteer in a third-grade classroom. She's an accomplished, professional photographer and seldom leaves behind her digital SLR camera when traveling-the exception to her usual "packing light" practice. Long distance hiking has become a passion for her, and in mid-2017 she passed the six-thousand-mile mark. The longer trips included the Pacific Crest Trail, the Camino de Santiago and many other pilgrimage routes in Europe, as well as Torres del Paine in Chile and Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. She has given more than a hundred talks and digital presentations about long-distance hiking and the Camino de Santiago at bookstores, REI sporting-goods stores, Sierra Club dinners, libraries, travel group programs, and more.
