The growing elderly population in Brazil brings as a consequence a high incidence of chronic diseases and functional limitations, leading to an increase in the process of institutionalization of these individuals. In this context there is a need to know the health conditions and fragility of elderly people who live in long-term institutions in a city of Serra Gaucha, so that we can later promote prevention strategies aimed at maintaining the functionality of these individuals.
