In Nepal the older population is increasing both in terms of absolute numbers as well as proportion of the total population which is estimated to be double by 2017. They are regarded to be vulnerable as they suffer from the cumulative effects of a lifetime of deprivation, poor health and nutrition, low social status, discrimination and restriction on mobility, lack of means to fulfill their basic needs such as food, clothes, shelter, health care, love and affection.

Mr. Ramesh Bhatta has completed MPH and MA Sociology (Tribhuvan University) MSC in Telemedicine and e-health (University of Tromsø, Norway). He is a Public Health expert, having sound experience in academic areas and Public Health Research. His main interest is in Maternal and Child Health, as well as in Elderly Health and telemedicine activities.
