One of the diseases on the rise worldwide, caused by the alteration of social determinants in health is diabetes mellitus. To describe the behavior of the social determinants of health associated with type 2 diabetic patients in the period from July 2019 to May 2021. A quantitative-qualitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted. Women aged 75 to 79 years, white, without schooling, housewives, with a family history of diabetes mellitus, obesity and primary hyperlipoproteinemias as comorbidities predominated. The social determinants of health that had the greatest impact were stress, smoking, inadequate diet and the predominant economic situation classified as high.
