Observed by countries of the world, there are different forms of health care financing, then different forms of ownership of the buildings and equipment in health care, different population coverage with health insurance, as well as different the content and the scope of health insurance rights. However, depending on the dominant source of funding, prevailing ownership and size of population covered by health care, the health care system of each country, can be classified into one of three basic models (Bismarck model, Beveridge model and private insurance model). The choice of the model of the health care system is conditioned by historical, social, cultural, economic and other factors. Changes in some of the mentioned circumstances, may cause a transition the national health care system from one model to another model. The social protection system in the Republic of Serbia consists of: a) social insurance, b) social and child protection and c) disabled veteran protection. Social insurance consists of; a) health insurance, b) pension and disability insurance and c) unemployment insurance.

Rajko Kosanovi¿, PhD, arbeitet beim Bund der autonomen Gewerkschaften Serbiens (Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia). Er war im Gesundheitssekretariat der Stadtverwaltung von Belgrad als stellvertretender Sekretär für wirtschaftliche Angelegenheiten tätig. Er war Vorsitzender des Verwaltungsrats des Republikanischen Krankenversicherungsfonds (2002-2014). Er hat über 250 Artikel veröffentlicht.
