The focus of this research is to understand physical & psychological health status of residents in senior care homes in long term care facilities in the U.S. Psychological health status with special reference to depression was examined in the residents. An attempt was also made to assess social supports and social resources of residents living in old age homes in India, with those living in senior nursing homes in the United States. To gain deeper understanding on life experiences of senior residents in long term care facilities typical case studies were recorded and observations were depicted in this book.

Dr. Renu Abraham Varughese, MS, MPhil, PhD, is tenured teaching faculty in the School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy College, New York. Her doctoral thesis is on cross cultural comparative study of older adults residing in long term care centers of India and USA.
