The health situation of Indian women is involved to their socio- economic status and effects of their economic productivity as well as the performance of their biological and social responsibilities. The consequence of gender discrimination are reflected in the demographic status of women in India in terms of the high mortality rates, especially the maternal mortality rates, the relatively low life expectancy at birth and the unfavorable sex- ratio. Other indicators like sporadic cases of female feticide and unfavorable juvenile sex ratio show that there is threat evident to a women's life through out her biological life cycle.
