This guide is a logical sequel, a kind of "after-sales service" for the book " Contributing to reflection on the humanisation of the hospital Quality at the heart of hospital management" published in 2013. At the time, this book presented a review of globally shared knowledge on the quality of care and was a plea for a culture of continuous improvement in the care offered to patients. While the virtuous nature of quality care for healthcare establishments is an established fact, its implementation requires an approach that is both simple and practical. This is the perilous exercise the author has undertaken in this booklet. In order to establish a lasting culture of quality, healthcare institutions need to define a coherent plan that includes a clear, shared vision, a clearly understood mission and appropriate strategies. Drawing up and adopting a policy document therefore appears to be the most appropriate and practical way of achieving sustainable improvements in healthcare services.
