Read this groundbreaking book to discover the healthiest places to live. This blue book delivers the skinny on 3,108 US counties to help overweight and obese individuals make informed choices. For retiring baby boomers, it provides the facts and data to help you decide where you might want to move for your golden years. Just like choosing a school based upon high academic performance, you can choose where to live based upon good health achievement scores. Here is what you will discover. US Counties that are rated highly by the USDA for natural amenities (warm winter, winter sun, temperate summer, low summer humidity, topographic variation, and water area) generally have lower obesity rates. The same is true for high altitude counties. US counties with both high natural amenities and high altitude have the lowest obesity rates in the country. The rates of diabetes and leisure-time physical inactivity are also lower and people generally live longer. While natural amenities and altitude are only two factors impacting weight, they can literally tip the scales.
