Written and designed for the education professionals, Dr. Mott has delivered a priceless resource that every Head of School, Board Chair, board member, and trustee will want to keep close at hand. It is often the case when the leadership of a private or independent school faces an unusual or acute issue due to poor decisions and strategy. In those times, it can be crystal clear that grave errors in judgement were made years earlier in assembling the leadership team itself. With so much at stake, considering the importance of our private schools and the confidence placed in them by parents, school leadership must strive to adhere to best practices. To that end, Bill Mott lays down in organized fashion those best practices of school leadership. And through fictional and realistic Case Stories, relates precisely how issues arise from unhealthy practices and how schools can thrive and succeed by following the principles set forth in this book. Healthy Boards, Successful Schools is the result of an experientially rich career in leading schools, conducting executive searches, training board members, board chairs, and school CEOs. It has been selected as the text at the independent school leadership programs Vanderbilt and Mercer Universities.
