Lee has been leading workshops focusing on human development for 3 decades. I have worked with men and violence, Effective Communication, mediation, Reevaluation Counseling as well as many other modalities of healing. Monterey California is my home base and I've led many workshops there as well as Esalen Institute, Human Awareness Institute and presented at AMSA worldwide conferences, to name a few. I am married 40 years in 2021 to my best friend, Giulie. We have 3 grown children and currently 5 grandchildren (and counting). My first paid gig as an accordion player was age 11 and have spent my life as a writer and performer with two solo albums "Hummingbird" and "Leeward" to my name. Working with groups of people in Effective Communication is a passion, along with singing and playing (guitar and keyboards mostly now, although I've been known to drag the old accordion out from time to time). Arnie first encountered active listening in couple's therapy. It was definitely an improvement over what my wife and I had been doing. However, what I discovered was that it worked well in our appointments while the therapist was guiding the interaction and acting as referee. At home, when a conflict arose, the active listening approach proved to be ineffective. Similarly, all the conventional approaches tended to work well with a third person. They tended to fall apart whenever a problem reared its head. That is, until we studied Effective Communication and Relationship Building with Selwa Said (sa-eed). Her teaching of Tracking and Impact Statements gave us, for the first time, a way to interact without the necessity of a referee. My love of the violin has allowed me to perform in many venues with many artists and orchestras. I particularly like coaching using the Effective Communication skills as well enjoy doing workshops with Lee.
