At forty-two, Heather Finch has cared for and buried her husband after strokes and brain injury; now she embarks on a writing retreat in a cottage in the Scottish Highlands. When Heather believes her small writer's cottage is haunted, she must face her past and present fears - real or imagined - that populate her mind. Chapters are set three years before juxtaposed with ones set in present day. The " Remember" chapters recount her husband Marc's stroke, the three years of caretaking she shares with her teenage children, and the end-of-life decisions leading to Marc's death.

Autorenporträt
Ben White has been an editor with Running Wild Press since 2019 and has worked with over 100 authors of novels, creative nonfiction, and short stories. His approach to editing is from a reader's point of view knowing that if the reader is confused, the work--no matter how meaningful and necessary it may be--won't be read. His own work includes Conley Bottom: A Poemoir (Eden Stories Press, 2020), The Recon Trilogy +1 (Running Wild Press, 2020), and numerous poems, stories, and essays in various publications. Jenny Benjamin been writing poetry for twenty years; in fact, she completed her MA in English with an emphasis on creative writing, and her master's thesis was a poetry manuscript. While she's had many poems published in various magazines and journals, and even though she tried for years to get one of her many poetry manuscripts published, a novel was her first published book. Thus, she sees herself as a poet and a novelist.
