Life is changing fast in 1904 Nashville, but the sins of the past live free in a place called Hell's Half Acre -- where you can find gambling, sex and most any other debauchery ever dreamed. And none do it better than Miss Marion's, where a mysterious gambler named Britt sets in motion a chain of events that will have lawmen and outlaws alike aiming to put him six feet under. Will the woman that Britt scorned be his downfall or salvation when Hell comes calling? Hell's Half Acre gives the reader a combination of gunslinging action, familiar Western themes of morality, complicated lawmen, and the thrill of the chase, and a supernatural dose of good and evil. The story takes place in the waning days of the Old West, as the Industrial Revolution has been modernizing the New World of America. A mysterious gambler comes to 1904 Nashville in search of money to help him enter a high-stakes poker game on a riverboat bound for St. Louis. He meets Bessie at her mother's establishment, a brothel and gambling house, a vestige of a bygone day. From there, the stakes are raised as this gambler goes on the run with a cast of characters in pursuit as they ultimately wind their way to the St. Louis World's Fair. Who will live, who will die, and who will lose their soul?
