Autorenporträt
Marcia Leiter studied art at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Manchester University and Carroll Community College. She worked as a graphic designer, illustrator, fine artist and art teacher for 25 years, then as a Physical Therapist Assistant for 10 years. She has been writing, illustrating and publishing picture books since 2015. Her Sweet Pea Series features the adventures of bunnies Sweet Pea and String Bean, with multitudes of mice and other creatures in supporting roles. She has published four Sweet Pea books so far and has plans for at least five more in the series; she also wrote Baby Bunny's Bedtime Book for toddlers. Her books are available in all the libraries in the state of Maryland as well as on Amazon. In 2019 Marcia created original watercolor illustrations for the Maryland Day by Day Family Literacy Activity Forever Calendar for the Maryland State Library system, incorporating her Sweet Pea characters as well as native wildlife. She lives in Carroll County, Maryland surrounded by a green garden filled with trees, flowers, butterflies, birds and rabbits, but the light of her life is her grandchildren. They are her inspiration to keep writing and drawing.
