Autorenporträt
Maureen Horvath is a grandma living in the mountains of Truckee, California. She enjoys skiing, hiking and loves being with her family. Maureen, or Mo as most call her, has been an amateur writer most of her life. Her love of nature and life in the Sierra has given her inspiration to write about her surroundings and the people who live there. Mo has guided groups during the Truckee Chamber of Commerce's annual Donner Party Hikes, telling stories of the infamous pioneers stranded in 22 feet of snow in 1846. Leading travelers along the path of the original wagon trail and historic Lincoln Highway, Mo's unique story telling comes through along with her love of local history. As a way to ease her anxiety and worry about Henry, her 4th grandchild, Maureen sat in the Stanford Pediatric Surgery waiting area, channeling her fear into a book for Henry's sister, Evelyn. The miracle of modern medicine and the remarkable skills of today's doctors gave her the happy ending she and her family so desperately wanted. A California native, Mo grew up in San Diego and moved progressively northeast after she met her husband, Bob. Together, they have raised two children, owned two businesses and are currently retired in their log home.
