It's the saddest day in any kid's life when the kid learns that he or she is not going to live forever. As children, we start learning the realities of life and how the world works. However, the day that a child realizes that all people eventually die, and furthermore that he or she is also going to die someday...well that is on another level than, for example, learning the truth that the tooth fairy is really just one of their parents. We all know what life after the tooth fairy epiphany looks like to a child, who one day may be disappointed to wake up and no longer find money under the pillow. However, none of us can explain to a child with any confidence what it really looks like on the other side. No matter our religious or spiritual beliefs. Nobody really knows, or at least nobody to my knowledge has reported back from heaven in a news broadcast about the weather conditions up there. Kids are smart and parents will inevitably find themselves being asked the tough questions, ones which we may not always be prepared to answer. It is my hope that this book allows parents to help their kids gain understanding and make peace with the process of life and what comes next, and for us parents to also have an easier time with it.
