Gillian Flynn (Kansas City, 1971) es una escritora estadounidense y ex crítica de televisión para Entertainment Weekly. Ya había publicado otros dos libros antes de que Perdida se convirtiese en un éxito de ventas. El primero, Heridas abiertas, fue finalista del Premio Edgar de novela negra y fue galardonado con el Premio Fleming Steel Dagger 2007 al mejor thriller; el segundo, Lugares oscuros, fue elegido libro del año por los reseñistas del New Yorker, mejor lectura del verano según la revista Weekend Today, mejor libro de 2009 en la Publishers Weekly, y mejor novela según el Chicago Tribune.
