An Untold Story Behind Building the Nation of Israel This combination of stories, as the reader will observe, crosses many years beginning around the 1880's to the present time. The conversations with Asher Dekel, for the sake of continuity, takes place over a period of two days, however, there were many conversations this author had with Asher Dekel that took place over a number of years. Asher was Israeli. His daughter, who had married an American, was living in the United States when the three of us became acquainted. Over the course of a number of years we became fast friends. Each time I met with Asher, I had the great opportunity of asking him questions about the history of Israel and his own personal involvement in it. These stories have been put into a two-day event in this book to lend to the flow of history for the reader's sake. I actually did spend two different days in Israel with Asher and his lovely wife Sarah, but not consecutively as is written here. Most of the stories told in this history were communicated by Asher and augmented by further research to document the accuracy of each account. It seemed like one story could not be told without leading into another as the whole history of modern Israel unfolded. The people involved are ordinary people, just like you and me. Never in their wildest imaginings would they have considered the possibility that they might do something that would impact history; and yet they did, all because they were true to what they felt they must do. They each acted in accordance with their deeply held convictions. As you read the story of these ordinary folks, you will be able to see and feel that history turns on very small hinges; and perhaps in some nearly imperceptible way, you will be able to feel and know that we also are a part of history and your tiny part might just be what the world will need at this time.
