Brinley Connely is a Sophomore in New York City who fights mental instability, and a life that's slowly crashing around her, not just the typical high school difficulties of peer pressure and being perfect. All of that changes one night when she snuck out to meet with her friends, took a wrong turn, met some trouble, and in desperation discovered a place long forgotten. After that night, her life is never the same. Not after the Phoenix chose her to wield the fire. Alone. She isn't alone for very long though when Ace Peirce, one of her classmates, witnesses her abilities and decides to help her become the hero the fire could make her into in order to defeat a new enemy-the likes of which New York has never seen. But will it be enough? Will Brinley be able to fix her life, and be able to destroy the evil that threatens her city, the lives of her loved ones, and her very own life?
