Behind the Song:"Herstory repeats itself" is the closing track from Carbon Monoxide's (13.7 million monthly listeners) self-titled debut album (1983). According to the band, it is their most emotionally challenging song. "There is blood, sweat, and tears staining those lyrics," drummer Olivia Jack stated in a Rolling Stone interview. "We got together this one faithful night and reopened all our wounds. There was a special sense of community and belonging between us then. I can't do it justice with words. The reason we are still around after 40 years of sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll."
