Linda Lael Miller wuchs in Washington, dem nordwestlichsten Bundesstaat der USA, auf. Ihre Karriere als Autorin, die 1983 begann, ermöglichte ihr, in England und Italien zu leben, bevor sie wieder in den weiten Westen zurückkehrte, dem bevorzugten Schauplatz ihrer Romane. Linda Lael Miller engagiert sich für den Tierschutz und ist Gründerin einer Stiftung zur Förderung von Frauenbildung.

Jill Shalvis wohnt mit ihrem Mann und ihren drei Kindern in der Nähe des Lake Tahoe. Wenn ihre Familie ihr Zeit lässt - was leider viel zu selten der Fall ist -, sitzt sie im Arbeitszimmer und schreibt. Zur Familie gehören ein etwas verrückter Hund und drei Hamster.
