Most Protestants would be surprised to know that the New Testament relies upon the Apocrypha. Jesus Himself quotes from it, quoting from it in the same way He quotes from the Old Testament. The Apostle Paul quotes from the Apocrypha, as well as other New Testament writers. What are we to make of this? Is it possible that the Reformers were mistaken when they separated these books from the rest of the Old Testament? How was the canon established in the first place, and which books did it contain? If the Apocrypha were used by the apostolic Church, why were they removed from Protestant Bibles? Is it possible that by eliminating these books from their Bibles, Protestants are missing something that was important to the apostolic church? Is it possible the Apocrypha add richness and depth to our understanding of Christ? This book provides answers to these and other questions, with the goal of encouraging the appreciation of these books, which have been hidden in plain sight.
