At the age of four, a little girl hides in a dark closet during her parents' shouting match. With doors slamming behind him, her father remained a phantom figure for the rest of her life, leaving her to grow up in a household fraught with mental illness and alcoholism. Finding a safe hiding place from her disintegrating family life in a ballet studio, she discovers the beauty of Russia through the world of dance. In her memoir, "Hiding in the Bulrushes: A Personal Exodus from Fear to Shouts of Joy," Patricia Mohney shares her story of how God rescued her from fear of abandonment and pain and how she found unexpected joy through a wild adventure of living in Russia, whose people were known as the enemy in her growing-up years and, sadly, even today.
