HDR video is considered to be the next frontier of digital multimedia able to provide a step-change in the viewing experience. This book presents the number of challenges and their possible solutions in the HDR video distribution related to the compression of HDR video and the backward-compatibility with existing multimedia delivery technologies. The work was motivated by the advent of low-cost consumer-end HDR displays which can stimulate visual experience similar to the real-world and requires HDR video distribution infrastructure to be in place to deliver the HDR video. However, one of the most important issues is compliance with existing video distribution infrastructures, video compression standards and backward-compatibility with the LDR video players and display devices that are addressed in this book for broader adaptation of HDR video by the masses.
