The world's infrastructure is largely built of concrete. With growing populations in the developing countries of the world, such as India, and with the decay of existing infrastructure in developed countries, such as the U.S., the need for new materials with improved properties has become as imperative now as ever. High-performance concrete composites that include fibers and particulate matter along with advanced chemical admixtures and complex ternary and even quaternary cement blends represent a growing proportion of the concrete being used and would possibly be the future norm.
