LET THERE BE TEA While working with artists Jamie Moon and Kenny Claybaugh in the development of the exhibition High Tea: From Mud Pies to Tea Pots, I found myself drawn into the spirit of clay in pursuit of the meaning of form and function. Just the mention of the words 'high tea' conjure up serious expectations and any lady or gentleman in the know will tell you that propriety calls for restraint during this social exercise. The beauty and power of these two artists and their story is the manner in which they display grace and elegance in the mud. For Jamie a handful of dirt is not only her lexicon, but the source of her artform. Kenny's tea pots appear to come directly from the earth and sprout from the river banks. Photographer Molly Moreschini brilliantly captures the two artists who are covered in mud enjoying the social ritual of high tea in true form without restraint. They take us to a more simpler time. Let there be tea. Lots of tea.
