The monographic work "Higher Education in Post-Communist Albania 1992-2013" is intended to inform the readers about the most important processes, developments and trends shedding light on the progress of Albanian education in the period 1992-2013. The new political, social and economic reality in post-communist Albania was a starting point for transformations and new developments in the field of higher education. The liberation of higher education institutions from the 50-year old indoctrination would mark the first and most important success of reforming the higher education in the country; a process accompanied by amendments in legislation over the years 1994-2013. While shadding light on this process, as well as analyzing the most relevant factors shaping the policies pursued in the field of higher education, this study has defined and modeled two main lines: reorganization - substantial legislative amendments in the field of higher education in Albania and their approach to the concept of sustainable economic development in 1994-1999; and internationalization - implying the implementation of Bologna process and efforts as a part of integration into Europe Higher Education Area
