The author dialogues with texts of Spanish thought and of the Hispanic tradition within the general framework of Western philosophy and its history. Some of the authors referred to in the pages of this book have been unjustly forgotten, but their lesson deserves and requires careful attention for our accommodation in the present and for our future projects. We adopt and recognize a humanistic perspective, defender and promoter of freedom as a sign and difference of the superior and cosmopolitan human dignity. The humanistic disciplines prevent and cure the pathologies and overflows of utopian fantasy, because they explore the perspective of the possible: dialectics (logic); rhetoric (art of persuasion and plausibility); hermeneutics (understanding and application); and poetics (creativity). "Synderesis" Baltasar Gracián called the basis of prudence, defining it as a "connatural propensity to everything that is most in accordance with reason, always marrying the most correct". Let us hope that these conversations and reflections will be useful to shape and entertain, sowing curiosity, training for good judgment.
