JOSÉ RAMÓN ALONSO PEÑA (Valladolid, 1962). Doctor por la Universidad de Salamanca, catedrático de Biología Celular y director del Laboratorio de Plasticidad neuronal y Neurorreparación del Instituto de Neurociencias de Castilla y León, ha sido rector de la Universidad de Salamanca e investigador y profesor visitante en la Universidad de Fráncfort, la Universidad de Kiel, la Universidad de California-Davis y el Salk Institute for Biological Studies de San Diego. Conferenciante invitado en universidades de España, Alemania, Suecia, Chile, Dinamarca, Argentina, Colombia, Perú, Turquía y Estados Unidos, ha publicado quince libros y numerosos artículos científicos en las principales revistas internacionales de su especialidad. Escribe frecuentemente sobre divulgación científica y el mundo universitario en prensa española ('El País', 'ABC', 'El Mundo', 'Expansión'...). Ha ganado el 'Concurso Internacional Teresa Pinillos de Divulgación Científica' de la Universidad de La Rioja y el Premio Fray Luis de León de Ensayo, así como varios concursos de relatos y cuentos. Sus obras 'La nariz de Charles Darwin y otras historias de la Neurociencia' (Almuzara, 2012) y 'El escritor que no sabía leer y otras historias de la Neurociencia' (Guadalmazán, 2013) recibieron sendos premios Prisma, el galardón a las mejores obras de divulgación científica que convoca y otorga la Casa de las Ciencias (Museos Científicos Coruñeses). También ha publicado '¿Quién robó el cerebro de JFK?'
