Miriam Shrager is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures at Indiana University. Her recent work appears in Slavica, Baltistica, and Journal of Slavic Linguistics. She is a native Russian speaker. Sibelan Forrester is Professor of Russian at Swarthmore College. She is editor and translator of The Russian Folktale by Vladimir Yakovlevich Propp; of Baba Yaga: The Wild Witch of the East in Russian Fairy Tales; and (with Jack V. Haney) of The Complete Folktales of A. N. Afanas'ev. She is editor (with Pamela Chester) of Engendering Slavic Literatures and (with Magdalena J. Zaborowska and Elena Gapova) of Over the Wall/After the Fall: Post-Communist Cultures through an East-West Gaze. She is a translator of Russian, Croatian, and Serbian poetry. Russell Scott Valentino is Professor and Chair of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures at Indiana University. He is author of Vicissitudes of Genre in the Russian Novel: Turgenev's "Fathers and Sons," Chernyshevsky's "What is to be Done?," Dostoevsky's "Demons," Gorky's "Mother" and of The Woman in the Window: Commerce, Consensual Fantasy, and the Quest for Masculine Virtue in the Russian Novel. He is translator of eight books of literature in Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian, Italian, and Russian.
