The Kentucky 3rd Battalion Mounted Rifles [also called the 1st or 10th Battalion] was organized during the late summer of 1862 and officially accepted into Confederate service on November 7, 1862. It skirmished in various conflicts in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia, then surrendered at Bowling Green, Kentucky, in April, 1865.
