Is there an Irish novel after James Joyce? It seems there is, although it has experienced some major changes due to globalism and cultural progress. This book consists of several topics concerning contemporary Irish literature - Irish prose recycling its own history, the role of the Catholic Church, the notion of the city, the Troubles period in Northern Ireland and its cultural popularity and typical Irish themes moulded into global thematic. In order to explain and analyze these topics I used four contemporary Irish novels - The Secret Scripture by Sebastian Barry,The Journey Home by Dermot Bolger, The Ghosts of Belfast by Stuart Neville and All That is Solid Melts into Air by Darragh McKeon.
