George Edmundson (4 February 1848 - 3 July 1930) was a Church of England priest and University of Oxford academic historian. He accepted benefices in Northolt and Chelsea and retired to the south of France. Edmundson were the eldest son of Mr. Rev. George Edmundson of Redcar and St Leonards-On-Sea through his marriage to Elizabeth Anne, daughter of William Whytehead of Thirsk, and was born at Redcar House in Redcar, Yorkshire. His dad were the lord of Agglethorpe Manor in Coverdale. He attended St Peter's School in York and Magdalen College in Oxford, where he was a demy. He received a first in Mathematical Moderations in 1869 and another in Maths in 1870, graduated with honors in 1871, earned the Senior Hall Greek Testament Prize in 1873, and went on to get an MA in 1874.
