Mathematics Methods is a one-semester, two credits unit course. It will be available to all students undergoing a course of Diploma in Mathematics Education, National Certificate in Education (NCE), Bachelor of Science Education (B.Sc. Ed) and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in Mathematics. The course consists of seven units: a brief history of Mathematics, the importance of Mathematics in relation to other subjects, some mathematicians and their contributions, curriculum in Mathematics. Mathematics syllabus, scheme of work, lesson plan, individual differences in Mathematics learning, some selected methods of teaching Mathematics, introducing mathematical concepts, learning aids in Mathematics (their objectives and characteristics), Mathematics laboratory as an approach to teaching Mathematics.
