It is important to dispel the idea that the university has its beginning in the Western world, taking as a referential model the Platonic Academy and/or the University of Bologna in Italy in the 11th century A.D. In fact, in China, India and in the Arab world, the university dates back to a period before the Platonic Academy. For this reason, a historical account will be given of the process that the different schools and universities went through with regard to the teaching of the humanities and other sciences.
