HMAS Hawk (M 1139) was a Ton class minesweeper built as HMS Gamston for the Royal Navy by Richards Ironworks at Lowestoft in England. Gamston was launched on 1 July 1954, and was later renamed HMS Somerlyton. The ship was purchased by Australia in 1961 and commissioned into the Royal Australian Navy on 18 July 1962. HMAS Hawk became the second Australian minesweeper to see action during the Indonesian Confrontation, when on 13 March 1966, while patrolling off Raffles Light, came under fire from an Indonesian shore battery.
