Knee range of motion restriction in the acute phase after a hip surgery with the lateral approach is commonly seen due to the splitting of vastus lateralis and tensor fascia lata muscles. So joint Range of Motion (ROM) restriction, post surgery, if not dealt with within the healing period, may lead to certain pathological changes leading to permanent disability hampering a person's functional skill. Thus the purpose of the study is to design a specific therapeutic programme for gaining early knee flexion range of motion in the acute phase after a hip surgery. So the older concept of passive stretching should be replaced by novel techniques which will enhance healing and reduce the time required for recovery. This book focuses on the treatment protocol which will overcome these complications through the treatment given to the structures involved.
