Autorenporträt
Lynda A. Holmes is a lifelong Georgia resident, retired teacher, and author. She won an essay contest at the age of twelve. Her nonfiction story about a school trip to Washington, DC and New York was published in her local newspaper. Lynda won first place in the Sautee Nacoochee Playwrights Showcase in 2008 for her play, Beyond Jesse James, plus a staged reading of the drama and production with two presentations by the Sautee Stars under the title, Jesse James and the Staring Contest. Several of her dramas were produced and broadcast via 89.1 FM on Brenau University radio (Gainesville, GA) in 2011. Lynda received the Women in the Arts Recognition Award in Literature and Drama from the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) in 2012. She also won first place, national awards from the NSDAR in Literature and Drama for her play, Exploring Our American Heritage with the Apron Mavens (2015) and her poem, "Freedom Rings from A to Z" (2016). Lynda's published short stories include "The Vinegar Files" (2005), in More Sweet Tea, "Heart of the Watermelon" (2007), in On Grandma's Porch (both Belle Books, publisher); "Holding Pattern," first published in Broken Petals (2014, Jan-Carol Publishing).
