Helena is an Arkansas port city on the Mississippi River with a long history of events stretching back to the 1500s involving famous people who passed by along the way. Some stayed and made it their home. The explorer, Hernando De Soto, probably started the parade in 1541, followed later by troops and famous generals from the Civil War. Mark Twain made riverboat stops in the 1800s, and Conway Twitty placed his seal of approval on it in the 1950s. Tons of stories developed over the years.

Autorenporträt
Steve Petkoff has retained and shared the early memories of his life with many friends and family members over the years. Past pictures and memorabilia inspired him to write. "After all, he says, in just a couple of decades, I'll be a centenarian. Then who is going to pass on the stories about the good ole days?" Now retired, Steve lives in Little Rock, Arkansas, with his wife and two cats. He stays busy volunteering, reading, and woodworking while being active at church.
