Jane Campion, born 30 April 1954, is a New Zealand screenwriter, producer, and director based out of Australia. Campion is the second of four women ever nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director and is also is the first female filmmaker in history to receive the Palme d'Or for direction in her acclaimed film The Piano (1993).
