Autorenporträt
Once upon a time, there lived a little girl named H.L. Anderson. She loved to tell stories and would follow her mother around the house, spinning endless yarns and driving her mother crazy. One fine day, H.L. Anderson learned how to write. Joy of joys! Now she could put every thought on paper, and her mother could enjoy the blissful sound of silence. But, little H.L. Anderson was not just a storyteller. She was a girl of many passions. She also liked to draw and fancied herself quite good at it. She knew there would come a day when she would have to choose which path to take, art or writing. So, one day she decided she would draw. She even took commercial art classes thinking this would be a practical way to earn money with her art. However, the lessons taught her that was not the path for her. It was too much like work, and it took the joy out of creating her art. Though she still focused mainly on her art, she kept writing. She couldn't help herself. The stories would fill her mind until she put them down or she would run mad. She worked on her style and voice and read voraciously. She learned from other writers and read books on writing. Until one day, she realized what she really wanted was to write. So, she went to college for writing. Her classes focused on writing for children, but she decided that was not for her. She had spent so many years learning to add detail and texture to her stories that stripping it all out for a children's story hurt. The stories felt naked and thin. No! She needed room to create worlds and creatures! Thin lines of children's stories would not limit her! Finally, finally, little H.L.Anderson, who had spent so many years honing her craft, published her first book. She enjoyed every second of writing it, and now she invites you to enjoy reading it!
