This book is going to change my life. My boss, Karen, says a friend is a stranger you haven't met yet. I tell her that writing my story is going to change my life. Except when my life does change it isn't because of my writing but because something happens to my mum, Jenny Nicely, and she isn't here anymore.

Autorenporträt
Caroline Day is the Sunday Times bestselling author of her debut novel, Hope Nicely's Lessons for Life. Small Acts of Kindness is her latest novel. As a freelance journalist for national magazines and newspapers, Caroline Day wrote other people's stories: happy stories and sad stories, stories of the greatest tribulations and triumphs. Caroline lives in north London, with her husband, Ben, two greedy rescue dogs, and with occasional visits from her grown-up (but still lovely) children.
Rezensionen
Hope Nicely's Lessons for Life is a sunburst of a story, full of love, kindness and one of the sweetest, most engaging central characters you're likely to meet. I was drawn in from the very first page by Caroline Day's sensitive portrayal of Hope Nicely's inner voice; as I followed Hope on her mission to make sense of the present, to uncover the past and to write her book, I found myself sharing in her triumphs and frustrations, her laughter and tears. It's a touching, tender story, but Hope Nicely's wonderful humour and delicious honesty mean that it's never sentimental. An absolute joy
