Donna Kay Lau is an Emmy-honored TV animator, author, and illustrator, as well as an art teacher on Surf Soup TV. She is the creator of the Surf Soup book series and the upcoming Surf Soup TV cartoon, with over 74+ books and counting. Lau has worked on beloved animated productions, including Dora the Explorer, Oswald the Octopus, CatDog, Generator Rex, Ben 10, and Regular Show. She was honored by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for her contributions to Emmy-winning animated shorts.Lau's work celebrates creativity, diversity, and cultural identity, drawing from her experiences as a Chinese American artist. She is also a mentor, painter, fitness trainer, and advocate for creative education, inspiring children through animation, publishing, and community outreach.She studied Animation (Traditional & Digital), Augmented Reality, Graphic Packaging Design, and Children's Book Illustration at ArtCenter College of Design and has exhibited her artwork in galleries across California and Hawai'i.Originally from Southern California, Lau spends time in Hawai'i, where she finds inspiration for her storytelling, surfing, and artistic creations.
