Horizons of Faith: Sunday Gospel Reflections for Year B, follows the 2023-2024 liturgical calendar of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB). The volume contains weekly reflections to ponder the message of the Word of God. Indicated verses can be found in the New Revised Standard Version of the Holy Bible (NRSV). The website, Catholic Prayer Space Ottawa, contains resources to facilitate prayer and weekly reflections on Sunday's Gospel. Reflections are regularly posted ahead of each weekend and are based on a process of inquiry in the tradition of the Catholic Church. They follow the liturgical calendar year, whereby readings from the New Testament of the Holy Bible are arranged according to a three-year lectionary sequence. Reflecting on the Gospel readings challenges us to develop our understanding and to read further about the philosophical and theological aspects of the Catholic Faith. It provides new insights and inspires us to continue our journey of evolving understanding. My hope is that after reading these reflections, readers will be curious and inspired to study the Gospels to engage with their message. There is much to gain by listening to the Word of God and allowing it to dwell in our soul. When we may feel overwhelmed or alone, Jesus speaks and says, "...Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28-30). May we find peace in His words and rest with Him at our side.
