My sister Leila was referred to Imam Reza Hospital in Tabriz (one of the big cities and the center of the province) for scanning and testing due to Cushing's syndrome (which occurs as a result of high levels of cortisol). After about 8 days, the specialists did not find the source of the disease by various scans and tests, and concluded that she should be transferred to Tehran (the capital of Iran) for nuclear medicine. After much effort, we were able to make an appointment for a nuclear imaging at Shariati Hospital. Everything was going well, but unfortunately the day we wanted to discharge her from Imam Reza Hospital and take her to Tehran, the endocrinologist said the patient was suspected of having COVID-19 (a disease caused by coronaviruses that develop diseases ranging from the common cold to more severe forms such as SARS, MERS, and COVID-19), and she should be referred to the ICU to be treated.
