Irma Canut Gasperin is a registered psychologist in Mexico, certified in early childhood education at Oakton Community Collage in Illinois, with a Studies in learning disabilities, well-being, mindfulness and certified as a yoga teacher for children. She is the mother of two children and has worked in early childhood education for more than ten years. She has worked with children aged 2 to 6 years in the Canada, Mexico and USA, as a teacher, director, educational psychologist, and facilitator of child development. Her experiences with children motivated her to write this book; observing how children show signs of learning and behavioral problems, compromising their mental health and well-being, because their emotions are trapped. Every day there are more children with behavioral and learning problems, anxiety and depression. Toto's journey is a true story and its meaning is not limited to playing with blocks. Many children, like Toto, experience an emotional journey every day, while facing frustration or stress in their academic and social lives, and through playing with their classmates or by themselves. Mental health is becoming a major concern in education and social development. Current societal tendencies tend to label emotions as either good or bad. Irma believes it is important to embrace and encourage recognition of emotions in the individual and her experience has led her to establish that all emotions are good, and tears as well as laughter are needed to help children achieve their best potential.
