'How engaged' is epistemological stand-point of systemwide engagements of Indian-postgraduate-education stakeholders for exploring the research problem as central research question of this study. Postgraduate education of India is the space where higher education problems of India are centrally accommodated. Engagements of stakeholders in Indian higher education system are attributed on coordination. It is critically instrumentalized based on postulated themes of seminal works and rival explanations on higher education system governance. For keeping discontinuity regarding forms of coordination, the study is designed longitudinally on the timeframes spanning from 1896 to 1906, 1966 to 1976, 2009-2020 for analyses. Based on streamlined data for high-quality analysis of postgraduate education across timeframes of Indian higher education system, it is found that the diversity of structures and accommodation of conflicting values are evidently related. Ranking of institutions based on indices of quality do not confirm the competence of the Indian postgraduate education knowledge in the higher education systems.
